When you sign up for or use FitCast, we collect the following personal information:
- Mobile phone number — required to deliver SMS weather forecasts to you.
- Location (zip code) — used to generate localized weather forecasts for your area.
- IP address — collected automatically when you visit our website or interact with our service, used for security and fraud prevention.
- Billing information — payment details are processed securely through Stripe and are not stored on our servers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send you weather forecast text messages tailored to your location.
- Process your subscription and billing.
- Maintain and improve the FitCast service.
- Communicate with you about your account or changes to the service.
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
No Selling or Sharing of Personal Information
We will not sell or share your mobile phone number or any personal information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate FitCast:
- Twilio — for SMS message delivery. Your phone number is shared with Twilio solely to deliver text messages to you. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.
- Open-Meteo — for weather data. Your zip code is used to retrieve forecast data. No personally identifiable information is sent to Open-Meteo.
- Stripe — for payment processing. Your billing information is handled directly by Stripe. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Turso — for data storage. Your account information is stored securely in our Turso database.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information only for as long as your subscription is active and as needed to provide the service.
When you unsubscribe from FitCast (by replying STOP or cancelling your account), we will delete your personal information — including your phone number, zip code, and account data — from our systems within 30 days. Billing records may be retained longer as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes.
How to Opt Out
You can opt out of FitCast messages at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent. Your data will be deleted within 30 days of opting out.
Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
FitCast is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by sending a text message or posting a notice on our website. Your continued use of FitCast after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
